Natural Exfoliators for a Glowing Skin

For those of us looking to lead a healthier life, the question often is how to take care of our skin.  Exfoliating the skin is one of the best ways to make it clearer, cleaner and more attractive as exfoliation does away with a complete layer of dirt, germs and dead skin cells sitting on the topmost layer of your skin. Use these natural ingredients to exfoliate the skin at home!

  • Yogurt – Being rich in lactic acid, yogurt can be used on any skin type and helps exfoliate and hydrate the human skin. It evens out the skin tone while doing away with dead skin cells. Apply yogurt all over the body for 20 minutes and rinse off with cold water.
  • Sugar – Sugar again suits all skin types and is rich in glycolic acid. This acid breaks down protein which allows dead skin cells to remain on the skin. It also boosts the production of new skin cells. Mix a cup of sugar with 4 teaspoons of olive oil and make a paste. Massage into the skin in circular motions and rinse off when done.

  • Honey – One of the best natural exfoliants is honey. Honey contains humectants qualities meaning it attracts moisture to the skin and works really well as a hydrating facial scrub. Apply honey on your body every morning and rinse off after 15 minutes to get clear skin.
  • Lemon juice – Lemons contain alpha hydroxyl acid which helps remove dead skin cells effectively. Mix the juice of some apple, grape and lemon with a tablespoon of sugar in the mixer. Apple the mixture on the face and rinse off after a few minutes. Applying lemon juice alone can cause the skin to itch.
